European regulars and Turkish champions Galatasaray have decided not to pay more than €15 million to sign Scott McTominay from Manchester United this summer.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Scott McTominay is the subject of interest from Galatasaray. The Turkish champions are keen on bolstering their midfield unit in the summer transfer window. However, they will not cough up more than €15 million to sign the 27-year-old midfielder from Manchester United.
The Scott McTominay story
Scott McTominay has been good enough to be a dependable rotation option for Manchester United in the last few years. While the Scotsman has been the first-choice midfielder for the Red Devils when he paired up with Fred in the middle of the park, better players have usurped him in the pecking order.
The 27-year-old has turned out more than 250 times thus far for Manchester United while chipping in with 29 goals and eight assists. However, McTominay faces an uncertain future at Old Trafford after entering the final 12 months of his contract.
Manchester United mulled over selling the Scottish international last summer before he enjoyed the best season of his career in the 2023/24 campaign. However, Scott McTominay’s spell with his boyhood club might end in this summer’s transfer window. Meanwhile, he does not have a shortage of suitors pursuing him, with Galatasaray among the interested clubs.
Turkish move beckons?
Galatasaray’s interest in Scott McTominay is understandable. The Turkish champions are keen on bolstering their midfield unit in the summer transfer window, with Kerem Demirbay and Sergio Oliveira on the wrong side of 30. The Manchester United academy graduate has thus emerged as a viable target for Galatasaray.
However, the European regulars do not want to cough up more than €15 million to sign the Scot. Recent reports have revealed a bid worth €15 million from Galatasaray to secure Scott McTominay’s services. However, that is their limit, with a move unlikely to see the light of day unless Manchester United accept a bid in that region.
Meanwhile, the 27-year-old Scottish international has reportedly given the green light to join Galatasaray. So, an agreement on the transfer fee is the only thing that stands between the Turkish champions and the Manchester United homegrown player.
