Arsenal could send Aaron Ramsdale on loan

Arsenal could opt to send Aaron Ramsdale on loan if they cannot find permanent suitors for the keeper, with Nottingham Forest keen.

According to Football Insider, Arsenal will consider sending Aaron Ramsdale on loan should they fail to find a permanent solution to the keeper’s future. Nottingham Forest are among the teams keen on the England international, who is desperate for regular playing time.

Arsenal to loan Aaron Ramsdale?

Aaron Ramsdale is now Arsenal’s second-choice keeper. If last season wasn’t enough to convince him, the club’s decision to sign David Raya on a permanent deal might have made him aware of his impending situation. The keeper wants a solution for his future, as he needs to play regularly in the Emirates or elsewhere.

Arsenal have been holding out on the idea of a permanent transfer, with some reports suggesting they were planning on demanding a huge fee. However, the market situation is somewhat tricky for them to fulfil those ideas, as the 25-year-old does not have many suitors willing to fork out huge sums to sign him.

There’s significant interest in the 25-year-old, with clubs like Southampton and Nottingham Forest looking to sign him on loan. Ramsdale will decide whether to step down from a side like Arsenal and re-enter a relegation scrap, something he has experienced before with Sheffield United and Bournemouth.

Arsenal were considering a loan, and now they might be willing to do so if they fail to attract big bids for the keeper. Should Ramsdale depart, Arsenal will scour the market for a new No.2. There are links to Wolves’ Dan Bentley, but the keeper is considered more for the third-choice role than becoming Raya’s deputy.

Nottingham Forest Southampton keen on Ramsdale

Forest are open to signing Ramsdale, although they may need more financial means to make a permanent bid. Should the 25-year-old join Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, he will reunite with former Arsenal No.2 Matt Turner and fight for a place with Belgian star Mats Selz, who arrived last January.

Meanwhile, Southampton’s interest might be more pressing. They only have Alex McCarthy as their goalkeeper after Irish international Gavin Bazunu suffered a serious injury back in May. Hence, the Saints could be an attractive option for Ramsdale, considering he has a rather easy path towards playing regularly next season.
