AC Milan could seal move for Tottenham Hotspur defender Emerson Royal today

Italian giants AC Milan are looking to complete the signing of Tottenham Hotspur full-back Emerson Royal today.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via SportWitness, AC Milan are hoping to reach a full agreement with Tottenham for the signing of Emerson Royal today. The Italian giants have been working very hard to sign the Brazilian full-back and are within touching distance of his signature.

Emerson was an integral part of Tottenham’s first team in the initial years after joining them in 2021 from Barcelona. But, he seems to have fallen down the pecking order under Ange Postecoglou. He was involved in a handful of matches last season but the majority of those appearances came because of an injury crisis in the team.

With him no longer a part of their plans, Tottenham have been looking to get him off their books and AC Milan have been working very hard to sign him. The Italian giants consider him to be their priority target for the right-back position.

Milan closing on the signature of Emerson Royal

Paulo Fonseca is pushing for his services and Milan have been in talks with Tottenham for months. They initially had a €10 million bid rejected following which the Italian club took a back seat. They put the deal on hold and started looking at other targets. However, they decided to return to the negotiation table a week back and have made significant progress since.

Milan already have a huge boost as the player has been pushing for the move. He has spent the past week convincing Spurs to sell him while the Italian club were working to lower his demands. While reports suggest Spurs were looking for around €25-30 million, the actual asking price could have been around €20 million.

As per the report, a deal could be struck for around €15 million. While there is still a difference of around €1-2 million between the two parties, both clubs could reach a common ground during today’s meeting. Milan remain optimistic that they will get the great green light to sign Emerson and bring him to San Siro.
