Barcelona hesitant to pay €60 million to sign Dani Olmo

Barcelona will unlikely fork out €60 million to sign 26-year-old Spanish playmaker Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish outlet COPE, Dani Olmo is the subject of interest from Barcelona. The Catalan giants are keen on re-signing the 26-year-old playmaker in the summer transfer window. However, RB Leipzig’s asking price for the UEFA Euro 2024 winner is a stumbling block, with the Blaugrana reluctant to fork out €60 million to secure his services.

Dani Olmo and his RB Leipzig journey

Dani Olmo has made considerable progress since joining RB Leipzig from Dinamo Zagreb in January 2020. While the Spaniard has struggled with a few fitness issues, he has made his mark whenever he has been on the pitch for the Bundesliga club.

In addition, Olmo has established himself as a pivotal figure for Spain in the last few years. The 26-year-old played his part as La Roja returned to the summit of European football by winning the UEFA Euro 2024. In addition, the player won the Golden Boot for scoring three goals, sharing the award with five other players.

Meanwhile, Dani Olmo’s exploits for his club and country have not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. However, the Spanish international might return to Barcelona before the summer transfer window shuts down, with the Blaugrana pushing hard to secure his services.

Barcelona return on the horizon?

Barcelona attempted to re-sign Dani Olmo in the last few summer transfer windows. However, a move has never materialised, with RB Leipzig holding onto the UEFA Euro 2024 winner. Nevertheless, he remains a target for Barcelona, with the two parties having an agreement over a possible move.

However, the transfer fee is a stumbling block for Barcelona, with RB Leipzig demanding around €60 million to part ways with Olmo in the summer transfer window. The Catalan giants have already failed with a bid to re-sign the 26-year-old Spaniard and are preparing a new proposal.

However, they are reluctant to cough up €60 million to secure Dani Olmo’s services in the summer transfer window. So, a move might only materialise if Barcelona can convince RB Leipzig to accept a fee worth less than €60 million for the Spanish international.
