West Ham United offer €35 million to sign Youssouf Fofana, player wants AC Milan move

West Ham United have submitted a €35 million offer for AS Monaco star Youssouf Fofana, who is keen on joining AC Milan.

The race for the services of Youssouf Fofana seems to be heating up as AC Milan and West Ham United are both set to battle it out for his signature. While the Frenchman has an agreement on personal terms with the Serie A outfit, according to Loïc Tanzi, the Hammers have tabled an offer worth €35 million for him.

Fofana came up the ranks at RC Strasbourg and made a name for himself while playing for their first team. On the back of his performances, he secured a move to AS Monaco in the winter of 2020 and has gone from strength to strength since.

The Frenchman has established himself as a mainstay at the club and also has 21 caps for the French national team. Youssouf Fofana was involved in 35 outings last season and even contributed towards eight goals. His performances even helped him secure a place in the French squad for the Euros.

While AS Monaco would love to have him around for years to come, they do not really have many options to play with as his current contract runs out in 12 months. Fofana seems all set for a move away from the club, and the Ligue 1 outfit are looking to ensure they raise significant funds from his sale.

West Ham keen on Fofana, who wants AC Milan move

West Ham United are one of the clubs interested in signing Youssouf Fofana. Julen Lopetegui is looking to ensure he has enough quality in his squad to succeed at his new club. They have already made some statement signings by bringing in Max Kilman and Luis Guilherme and are looking to continue in a similar fashion before the end of the window.

Signing a top-quality midfielder seems to be the next thing on their wishlist. They have been in talks to sign the AS Monaco star and have already submitted a €35 million bid for the versatile midfielder, who can play in a defensive role as well as higher up the pitch.

While the Hammers are keen on securing the signature of Youssouf Fofana, the player seems to have his heart set on a move to AC Milan. He already has a personal agreement in place with the Serie A outfit.

Milan have had a €17 million bid rejected and since West Ham’s offer is more than double, it seems the English club could hijack the deal. However, the final decision will be in the hands of the player, and the Hammers will have to convince him for things to fall into place.
