Emerson Royal expected to join AC Milan this week, final round of talks set

Serie A giants AC Milan are expected to complete the signing of Tottenham Hotspur full-back Emerson Royal this week.

Emerson Royal’s future has been the talk of the town since the start of the transfer window. The Brazilian international has been linked with a move to AC Milan and according to Fabrizio Romano, the former Barcelona full-back is expected to join the Serie A club this week as the final round of talks were held today.

The 25-year-old was a constant feature in Tottenham’s first team after joining them in 2021 from Barcelona. While he has not done much wrong since joining the English outfit, he fell down the pecking order following the arrival of Ange Postecoglou last summer.

Emerson was involved in 24 matches last season, but the majority of those appearances came because of injuries to other key players. While he still has two years left on his deal with Spurs, they do not count on him for the long run and have been looking to cash in on him.

AC Milan keen on Emerson Royal

AC Milan have been working hard to secure his services for some time now. The Serie A club want more quality at right-back and he has been their priority target for the star. While the Rossoneri were looking to secure a bargain deal, Spurs have been very hard to negotiate with.

Talks between the two clubs did stall for a while as Milan were not ready to meet Tottenham’s demands. However, they eventually decided to reignite their interest in the Brazilian full-back. Recent reports suggested that there was just a €5 million difference in the valuation of the two clubs and that a potential transfer was very close.

Emerson to join Milan this week

Fabrizio Romano has now provided the latest update on the transfer as Emerson Royal is expected to complete his move to AC Milan this week. Both clubs were involved in a final round of talks today, with AC Milan confident that they will get the green light for the move. Since personal terms were already in place, the Brazilian full-back will most likely get his desired move before the start of next season.
