West Ham United are reported among the clubs showing an interest in RC Lens defender Kevin Danso, who has a €25 million asking price.
According to Foot Mercato, West Ham United are among those keeping a close tab on Kevin Danso’s situation at RC Lens. The French club are reportedly open to selling the Austrian defender for a €25 million asking price, with the Hammers likely to look for another centre-back in this window.
West Ham United are interested in Kevin Danso
West Ham United are still in the market for defensive reinforcements, with the likelihood of another centre-back arriving considered strong. The Hammers have already signed Max Kilman from Wolves in a £40 million deal earlier in the window and are now reportedly angling a move for Austrian Kevin Danso.
The 25-year-old Ligue 1 defender has had a good few years under his belt, especially in the 2022023 season, where he helped RC Lens qualify for the Champions League. In that season, LKens also boasted the meanest defender in France, and in recent times, Danso has featured for the Austrian national side at the Euros.
He still has a contract with Lens until 2027, but the club might be open to offers in the range of €25 million. That might not be a problem for a side like West Ham, although Danso also has the attention of a few Italian sides like Atalanta and Napoli.
West Ham have a strong enough central defensive setup aftert the Kilman arrival, but should they consider a move for Danso, they might go on to fiurther strenghthen that department. The Hammers will study the idea of making an approach for Danso in the coming period, as they have plenty of other priority areas to look after in the time remaining in this transfer window.
West Ham’s transfer plans
With the interest in Danso, it’s clear they are looking at another defender, although they have been interested in a few other names lately. However, the priority for Julen Lopetegui’s side right now is other areas of the pitch, namely a new right-back and a striker. Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters seems like a big target after their failure to complete a deal for Noussair Mazraoui.
On the striker front, the Hammers have set sights on John Duran, who wants to join them, although there’s still no agreement with Aston Villa. West Ham might also target a new midfielder in this window after failing with a bid for N’Golo Kante a while ago.
