Manchester United are ready to battle it out with Arsenal and Liverpool for the services of Feyenoord full-back Lutsharel Geertruida.
According to a report from Caught Offside, Manchester United are interested in the services of Lutsharel Geertruida as they look to reinforce their backline. The Red Devils could look to overtake rivals Liverpool and Arsenal in the race for his signature.
Geertruida has had an impressive rise at Feyenoord having joined their youth ranks back in 2012. He has been with their first team since 2018 and has gone from strength to strength with every passing season. In the 2023/24 campaign, he was involved in 47 matches and ended up contributing towards 14 goals (9 goals, 5 assists).
Liverpool and Arsenal keen on Lutsharel Geertruida
While the Dutch full-back has been an integral part of Feyenoord’s first team setup for years, his future is quite uncertain with his contract running out in 12 months. There is interest in his services from Liverpool as well as Arsenal.
Lutsharel Geertruida enjoyed a lot of success under the guidance of Arne Slot, who has taken over from Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool. The former Feyenoord manager now wants to reunite with him at Anfield. He has seen him up close and believes Geertruida could be a great addition to their squad and versatility could be of great use.
Meanwhile, the Gunners are looking to bring in someone who can compete with Ben White for a place in the starting XI on the right flank. Geertruida’s performances have put him on their radar and they are considering making a move.
Manchester United to battle rivals for Geertruida
While Arsenal and Liverpool have been linked with him for some time, Manchester United are also in the mix. Lutsharel Geertruida is considered a ‘Plan C’ at Old Trafford, but the Red Devils could still look to jump ahead of their rivals in the race for his services.
They are pushing hard to sign a new right-back before the end of the transfer window. With Aaron Wan-Bissaka likely to leave the club, they want someone who can compete with Diogo Dalot for a place in the starting XI.
The Red Devils have three plans in place to ensure they get the best possible replacement, someone who can easily slot into Erik ten Hag’s system. Their priority is to sign Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich. While the Moroccan international seems keen, negotiations with the German club won’t be easy.
If they fail to sign the Moroccan full-back, the Red Devils will shift their attention towards ‘Plan B’ Denzel Dumfries. But, Inter Milan do not have any intentions of negotiating his exit. They want to extend his stay at the club which could be a problem for United. Geertruida might be their ‘Plan C’ at this stage but they seem well prepared to battle their rivals for his services.
