Manchester United will hope to sign Manuel Ugarte from Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain for around €50-55 million instead of meeting the asking price of €59 million.
According to a report by Caught Offside, Manuel Ugarte is the subject of interest from Manchester United. The Red Devils are eager to bolster their midfield department before the summer transfer window shuts down. However, instead of meeting Paris Saint-Germain’s asking price of €59 million, they want to sign the 23-year-old for around €50-55 million.
The Manuel Ugarte story
Manuel Ugarte would have hoped to establish himself as one of the best players in Ligue 1 after joining Paris Saint-Germain from Sporting CP last summer. However, while the South American midfielder enjoyed a solid first half of the 2023/24 season, his stock dropped after the turn of the year.
So, the 23-year-old has managed less than 2,500 minutes of game time in 37 appearances thus far for PSG while chipping in with three assists. However, Ugarte won the 2023/24 Ligue 1 title with Les Parisiens and produced impressive performances for Uruguay at the 2024 Copa America.
The Uruguayan international does not have a shortage of suitors pursuing his signature in the summer transfer window. However, Manuel Ugarte’s likeliest destination will be Manchester United, with the Red Devils pushing hard to secure his services in the coming weeks.

Manchester United’s interest in Manuel Ugarte is understandable. The Red Devils have been scouring the market for a holding midfielder heading into the summer transfer window after Casemiro blew hot and cold throughout the 2023/24 campaign. So, Ugarte has emerged as a viable target for Manchester United.
Personal terms are not an issue for the 23-year-old, who wants to join Manchester United in the summer transfer window. However, the transfer fee is a stumbling block for the Premier League bigwigs, as they do not want to cough up more than €50-55 million to sign the PSG midfielder, while the reigning Ligue 1 champions are demanding €59 million to part ways with him.
