Arsenal are keen on acquiring the services of Argentine defensive midfielder Ezequiel Fernandez this summer.
According to a report from Diego Monroig via Bolavip, Arsenal have their eyes set on Ezequiel Fernandez. The Gunners want to reinforce their squad ahead of next season as they look to end their wait for the Premier League title. They seek more quality in the centre of the park and feel the Argentine youth international could help their cause both in the short as well as the long run.
Ezequiel Fernandez’s rise, interest from the Middle East
Fernandez has been a part of the Boca Juniors setup since his childhood days. He came up the ranks at some pace and was promoted to their first team at the start of 2023. The young defensive midfielder already has 67 appearances for their first team and has also contributed towards five goals.
He is currently on international duty at the Olympics. While things might not have started in the best possible way for Argentina as they lost to Morocco in their opening group game, Fernandez scored in their 3-1 win over Iraq.
His performances for both club and country haven’t gone unnoticed and quite a few clubs are looking to prise him away from Boca Juniors. While he still has four years left on his contract, a potential exit could be on the cards this summer.
Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Qadsiah have already made attempts to sign the 22-year-old. Their last offer worth $17 million in instalments was turned down by the Argentine club. While the player was open to a move to the Middle East, Boca Juniors were not satisfied with their proposal.
Arsenal keen on signing Fernandez
Apart from Al-Qadsiah, there is interest in his services from the Premier League. Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal want to sign the youngster. They want to add more quality to their midfield and are on the lookout for a young partner for Declan Rice.
People at Arsenal believe Fernandez could be a great signing for the long run. He has what it takes to be one of the best in his position. The player’s entourage has been informed that the Gunners are interested in buying him this summer. They want him to be a part of their squad for the 2024/25 season. While they have yet to make an offer, their interest seems quite serious and it will cause problems for Boca Juniors for sure.
