According to a report by Spanish outlet AS, Fran Garcia is the subject of interest from Villarreal. The 24-year-old wide man faces an uncertain future at Real Madrid heading into the final month of the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, the Yellow Submarine recently submitted an enquiry for him, with the reigning La Liga champions knocking it back.
Fran Garcia and his Real Madrid struggles
Fran Garcia has struggled to stamp his authority since rejoining Real Madrid from Rayo Vallecano last summer. A native of Bolaños de Calatrava, the Spaniard began his youth career in his hometown but spent most of his formative years in Real Madrid’s fabled La Masia division.
However, Garcia could not establish a foothold in the first-team squad at the Santiago Bernabeu before finding a stable footing at Rayo Vallecano. The 24-year-old wide player spent three years at Estadio de Vallecas and became one of the best young full-backs in La Liga before Real Madrid re-signed him last summer.
While the Spanish international turned out 31 times across all competitions for Real Madrid last season, he managed only 1,685 minutes of game time while chipping in with one goal and six assists. So, it is hardly surprising that Garcia faces an uncertain future at Real Madrid midway through the summer transfer window.
Another move across La Liga beckons?
Recent reports have claimed that Real Madrid might sanction the departure of Fran Garcia in the summer transfer window. While the reigning La Liga champions might pursue Alphonso Davies next summer instead of the 2024 summer transfer window, Garcia’s long-term future at the Santiago Bernabeu remains uncertain.
However, the 24-year-old Spanish wide player does not have a shortage of suitors, with the latest update revealing an approach from Villarreal. However, the Yellow Submarine could not strike a chord with Real Madrid, with Los Blancos turning down the enquiry.
Other clubs like Borussia Dortmund and Bournemouth are also interested in securing Fran Garcia’s services in the summer transfer window. So, it will be interesting to see if Villarreal can beat the competition to the Spaniard’s signature.
