Liverpool could sanction another loan move for Portuguese youth international Fabio Carvalho towards the end of the transfer window.
According to a report from Football Insider, Liverpool are yet to make a decision regarding the future of Fabio Carvalho. While they want him around for the long run, the Reds are not so sure about his place in Arne Slot’s squad for next season, as a result, the Reds could send him out on loan before the end of the transfer window.
Carvalho joined the youth ranks of Fulham back in 2014. He came up the ranks at some pace and broke into their first team in 2021. On the back of an impressive debut campaign, he made the move to Liverpool in the summer of 2022.
While he is yet to establish himself in the Merseyside club’s first team, the 21-year-old is still quite young and people in Liverpool have high hopes for him. He spent the first half of last season on loan at RB Leipzig but didn’t get enough game time. However, the second half at Hull City surely went according to plan as he finished with nine goals and two assists in his 20 outings.
Carvalho’s future at Liverpool is uncertain
Despite his impressive performances at the start of the year, new manager Arne Slot is not yet certain about having the attacking midfielder in his first-team squad for the 2024/25 season. The Dutch manager is not sure if he will be able to hand him enough minutes needed for his development.
Carvalho is a part of the squad that has travelled to the United States for the pre-season and a decision regarding his future will be made once they are back to Merseyside. While Liverpool consider him to be an important part of their plans moving ahead, they are open to a loan move for now.
They have no intentions of a permanent sale with three years still left on his current contract. Following his impressive performances at Hull, multiple clubs from across Europe have been monitoring him. The report suggests that clubs from England as well as Europe are queuing up for a chance to sign the Portuguese youth international on loan for the upcoming season.
