Ryan Sessegnon closes in on Fulham move, Crystal Palace beaten in race

Crystal Palace target Ryan Sessegnon is reportedly all set to return to his former club Fulham after leaving Tottenham.

According to an update by reputed journalist Mike McGrath, Ryan Sessegnon is closing in on a move to Fulham. The 24-year-old has already undergone his medical at his new club before his return to Craven Cottage as a free agent.

Crystal Palace were also keen on his signature, and they had been working hard to sign the Englishman. But as per a report from Graeme Bailey on HITC, the Eagles have been beaten by Fulham to the services of the former Tottenham star.

Sessegnon came up the ranks at Fulham, and he was promoted to their first team in the summer of 2016. Tottenham forked out £25 million to sign him in 2019 because of his consistent performances and huge potential. While a lot was expected from the English wide man, who can feature anywhere across the left flank, things have not worked out for him at Spurs.

He struggled to get going and has left Tottenham following the expiration of his contract. The 24-year-old had been training with Crystal Palace throughout the summer. He managed to impress Oliver Glasner, and they were keen on adding him to their squad. The Eagles were hopeful of having him as a part of their squad for their tour to the United States.

Fulham win race for Sessegnon?

The Eagles were in talks with the former Tottenham player and were confident of getting it done. However, everyone at Crystal Palace is in shock as they have been beaten in the race to his services. He has decided to snub a deal at Palace to return to his childhood club Fulham.

McGrath has already confirmed that the player underwent a medical at Fulham yesterday ahead of his return to the club after five long years. He will be the Cottagers’ first signing of the summer as they are yet to use the funds raised by the departure of Joao Palhinha.

While they do have a lot of signings to make before the end of the deadline, they seem to have started in fine fashion by signing the 24-year-old for free. He might not have been at his best for a few years now. But Sessegnon still has time on his hands to bounce back, and there cannot be a better place for him than his childhood club.
