Girona closing in on Bryan Gil capture

Girona are close to acquiring the services of Tottenham Hotspur attacking sensation Bryan Gil, a transfer could be completed this week.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Girona are very close to completing the signing of Bryan Gil. The Spanish club have been working very hard to sign the left winger who is not a part of Ange Postecoglou’s plans moving ahead and they are within touching distance of getting it done.

Gil came up the rank at Sevilla before making a move to Tottenham in the summer of 2021. Spurs invested a significant amount to add him to their squad. A lot was expected from the Spanish international who seemed destined for greatness.

Unfortunately, the move to North London hasn’t worked out for the 23-year-old. He has struggled to establish himself in their first team and has spent a significant amount of time out on loan. He was a part of Spurs’ first-team squad for the 2023/24 season, he was involved in just 12 matches and racked up less than 250 minutes in total.

Gil to leave Spurs, Girona closing in on his signature

While he still has two years left on his deal at Tottenham, the club are ready to part ways with him. He is not in their plans going forward and they have informed him that is free to leave the club permanently. Girona are the ones keen on signing the versatile forward who can feature on either flanks as well as number 10.

With the Spanish club set to play in the Champions League, they are looking to strengthen their attack. Savinho’s loan spell at the club has ended, he has permanently joined Manchester City and signing Gil could help them cope with the Brazilian winger’s departure.

Girona have been working hard on a deal and as per the report, they are close to sealing an agreement with Tottenham. A rapid deal could be completed this week as the player’s absence from Tottenham’s pre-season squad is an indication that he is on the way out.

Quique Cárcel has led the charge for the Spanish club and he is pushing to sign him on a bargain deal with the 23-year-old hardly playing any football last season. The most viable option for Girona is a loan deal with an option to buy and Spurs are reportedly open to that idea.

The report insists that only the final key details of the agreement are missing and once those are in place, there could soon be an announcement about the transfer.
