Premier League heavyweights Arsenal have reportedly submitted a new enquiry to sign Juventus winger Federico Chiesa, a target for Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.
According to a report by Italian outlet Sportmediaset, as relayed by Calciomercato, Federico Chiesa is the subject of interest from Arsenal. The Gunners have made a new enquiry for the versatile Juventus winger, valued at €25 million by the Bianconeri. Meanwhile, the Italian international is also a target for Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window.
The rise and fall of Federico Chiesa
Federico Chiesa was one of the best young prospects in his homeland during his spell with Fiorentina. His exploits for La Viola earned him a move to Juventus, with the player making his mark at the Allianz Stadium during his loan spell with the Serie A giants.
However, the situation has changed for the worse since Chiesa completed a permanent move to Juventus. A long-term injury has stunted the player’s progress, and he has not been the same attacker since returning to action. The 26-year-old struggled to make his mark in the 2023/24 season, amassing ten goals and three assists in 37 appearances across all competitions.
The Italian international was not at his best in UEFA Euro 2024, either, as Italy crashed out of the round of 16. However, Federico Chiesa’s stock in the market remains high, with Premier League bigwigs like Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur vying for his signature in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, Juventus will demand around €25 million to part ways with him.
London calling?
The report has claimed that Chelsea and Tottenham have already enquired about Federico Chiesa, although they did not yield anything. The Blues want an upgrade on Raheem Sterling and Mykhailo Mudryk, although it is not clear if Chiesa can be that. As for Tottenham, Chiesa can replace Manor Solomon, who faces an uncertain future at the North London club.
The latest update has revealed Arsenal’s enquiry for Chiesa. The North London club’s interest in the Italian international is understandable. Mikel Arteta wants a player to rotate with Bukayo Saka in a busy season, bringing Chiesa into the picture.
Meanwhile, Chiesa will not cost a bomb, considering Juventus’s asking price of €25 million. With the Bianconeri setting that valuation on the 26-year-old, the final fee might be lower than €25 million. It will be interesting to see if a summer move to London sees the light of day for Chiesa.
