Eddie Nketiah agrees personal terms with Marseille ahead of Arsenal exit

Arsenal attacker Eddie Nketiah has agreed personal terms with Olympique Marseille ahead of potential transfer this summer.

According to a report from HITC, Eddie Nketiah is keen on making a move away from Arsenal and he has agreed personal terms with Olympique Marseille regarding a move. While the French club have taken a key step towards signing him, negotiations with the Gunners could prove to be very difficult.

Nketiah has come up the ranks at Arsenal, he was promoted to their first team back in the winter of 2019. While he did have a short loan spell at Leeds United back in the day, he has been a part of their first-team setup for years now. Despite being rated quite highly, the English striker hasn’t been able to establish himself as a regular starter.

He has been playing as a back for Mikel Arteta’s team. While he was involved in 37 matches last season, the 25-year-old was on the pitch for less than 1,400 minutes. Nketiah has chipped in with impressive performances now and then but it seems unlikely that he will be their preferred choice up top any time soon.

Olympique Marseille make moves to sign Nketiah

The English international still has three years left on his deal with Arsenal but he seems keen on a move in search of regular first-team action. There is interest in his services from Olympique Marseille who recently added Mason Greenwood to their squad from Manchester United.

While they have already significant firepower, they want more quality in the final third and feel Nketiah could be an exceptional buy for them. The French club were in talks with the player and they now have an agreement in principle over personal terms with him.

The English striker wants to join Marseille but the North London club are in no rush to sanction his departure with Emile Smith Rowe and Reiss Nelson both expected to be on the move. Arsenal have placed a massive £50 million asking price on Nketiah.

With both clubs are in talks to find a middle ground, Marseille are not ready to meet the demands of Arteta’s team. While talks continue, Arsenal are insisting they want a bigger fee than the £35 million AS Monaco paid for Folarin Balogun last summer.
