Manchester United are reportedly close to sealing the deal for Arsenal’s outgoing 16-year-old goal machine Chido Obi-Martin, with talks advancing between the two parties.
According to a report by Football Insider, Chido Obi-Martin remains the subject of interest from Manchester United. The Red Devils have advanced the talks to sign the 16-year-old goal machine as he closes in on ending his stint with Arsenal, with a professional contract in the works further down the line.
The rise and rise of Chido Obi-Martin
Chido Obi-Martin is one of the brightest young prospects in England. A native of Glostrup, the Dane has been with Arsenal since 2022 after spending most of his formative years in his homeland. He has made exponential progress in the last two years, producing some mind-boggling performances.
The 16-year-old goal machine was incredible in the 2023/24 season, as he amassed 32 goals and three assists in 18 Under-18 Premier League outings. Meanwhile, in October 2023, Obi-Martin rose in prominence after scoring a mind-numbing ten goals in an Under-16 fixture against Liverpool.
However, Chido Obi-Martin’s spell with Arsenal will likely end in the summer transfer window, as he has rejected the opportunity to continue at the North London club. Several well-known clubs are pushing for the Danish attacker’s signature, with Manchester United likely to land him in the summer transfer window.
Manchester United move on the cards?
Manchester United’s interest in Chido Obi-Martin is hardly surprising. The Red Devils constantly scour the market for the brightest young prospects, who prefer to join them due to their impeccable record of handing regular game time to academy graduates, some of whom also become the cornerstones of the first-team squad.
Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo are the latest academy graduates to become regulars for Manchester United. The Premier League heavyweights will soon land Obi-Martin, who they have been pushing hard to land. The latest update has revealed that talks between the parties have advanced, with Manchester United closing in on landing the 16-year-old Danish goal machine.
So, Arsenal’s attempts to keep hold of the young Dane have not yielded the desired result, with the teenage sensation close to completing a big move to Manchester United. It will be interesting to see if he continues his progress at Manchester United and breaks into the first-team squad anytime soon.
