AS Monaco set to demand €35 million for Youssouf Fofana amid Manchester United links

AS Monaco wants at least €35 million to sell Manchester United target Youssouf Fofana despite his contract having less than a year left.

According to GFFN, AS Monaco has no intention of selling Youssouf Fofana on the cheap and will demand at least 35 million for the 25-year-old Ligue 1 midfielder. The France international has less than a year left on his deal, and Manchester United is one of the clubs interested in him this summer.

Monaco wants €35 million for Youssouf Fonfana

Youssouf Fofana has grown to be a top-draw midfielder in Ligue 1, and now he’s ready to take on a new challenge away from France. There’s a clear path that the France midfielder wants a move out of the country and had reportedly agreed on personal terms with AC Milan.

AS Monaco have so far rejected a bid from Milan, citing the low bid as nowhere close to their asking price. Monaco wants at least €35 million to sell the 25-year-old Ligue 1 midfielder, as they believe he’s worth that much despite having less than a year left on his current contract.

Fofana represents a physical force in midfield and a top-drawer midfielder on the ball to progress it forward. He is a fantastic profile for many clubs, with Manchester United also keen on the France international. Tottenham have also expressed their admiration following the sale of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

Sticking with Manchester United, they need a player with Fofana’s profile in their midfield, which could also enable them to offload Casemiro. However, there are doubts whether INEOS would be willing to splash €35 million on the 25-year-old Ligue 1 midfielder, considering Monaco is somewhat cornered in negotiations, should they begin the transfer.

Manchester United keen on a new midfielder

Manchester United are planning to shape their midfield around Kobie Mainoo, but they certainly need further additions. Negotiations for Manuel Ugarte are advanced, as per multiple sources, while it remains to be seen whether they will end their midfield search should the Uruguayan arrive from PSG.

They are also linked with Richard Rios, who excelled at the Copa America with Colombia. Between him, Fofana and Ugarte, the Palmeiras star is probably the cheapest, although the other two bring in massive continental experience.
