West Ham United will compete with other Premier League clubs in the race to sign Belgian winger Alexis Saelemaekers from Serie A club AC Milan this summer.
According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercato, Alexis Saelemaekers is the subject of interest from West Ham United. Other Premier League clubs like Leicester City and Nottingham Forest are also vying for the signature of the AC Milan winger. Meanwhile, the Serie A giants want €20 million to part ways with the Belgian forward in the summer transfer window.
The Alexis Saelemaekers story
Alexis Saelemaekers has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining AC Milan from RSC Anderlecht in January 2020. A native of Berchem-Sainte-Agathe, he spent his formative years in Belgium and graduated from the youth division at Anderlecht over half a dozen years ago.
The 25-year-old has enjoyed some bright phases during his spell with AC Milan but dropped in stature before Bologna signed him on a season-long loan deal last summer. While Saelemaekers was not the undisputed first-choice starter for the Rossoblu in the 2023/24 season, he played his part in a memorable Serie A campaign for the club as they qualified for the Champions League.
The Belgian international chipped in with four goals and three assists in 32 appearances for Bologna. Saelemaekers has returned to AC Milan after his loan spell but will likely leave the Serie A giants in the summer transfer window.
