Barcelona submit official proposal to sign Dani Olmo

Barcelona have reportedly submitted an offer to Dani Olmo and his agent, outlining what they might be willing to pay RB Leipzig.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona has reportedly offered Dani Olmo a long-term deal while also writing to his agents a proposal on how much they are willing to pay RB Leipzig. The 26-year-old Euro 2024 winner has a 60 million release clause with a deadline, which has put the Catalans on high alert.

Barcelona make Dani Olmo offer

Dani Olmo has been on Barcelona’s radar, and his performances to take Spain to Euro 2024 glory might have cemented their interest. The 26-year-old has been splendid for RB Leipzig over the years, and he has considered leaving the club for a new challenge this summer.

Leipzig is protected by a €60 million release clause that expires today, meaning any interested side might have to make their proposals. There are reports that Olmo has already received offers from top sides, including Manchester City, while Barcelona have now made theirs. Manchester United are also keeping tabs, with the player reportedly receptive to the idea of coming to Old Trafford,.

Similarly, Liverpool are also keen, and if they get clear indications, they might pay the €60 million required to sign him. In Barcelona’s case, they have made an offer through Olmo’s agents. The Catalans have offered Olmo a six-year deal and a written proposal to his team as to how much they are willing to pay Leipzig.

The report suggests Barcelona are open to paying close to that €60 million fee in fixed and variable fees, meaning Leipzig might reject their proposal for a full cash deal. For now, Olmo has not accepted or rejected Barcelona’s proposals, as he and his team will mull over them before deciding on the player’s future.

Can Barcelona afford Olmo?

Naturally, with Barcelona’s ongoing problems with finances, there’s always a question about them when they are linked to a said player. The Catalans have reiterated they have the funds to carry out an operation to sign Nico Williams, with Deco already accelerating the pursuit

There were suggestions that they may still have to sell players like Raphinha, meaning if they are to sign Olmo, some other star might have to leave. In this case, while the report states about a proposal, it remains to be seen if Barcelona comes good on their promise.
