Liverpool in talks with Adrien Rabiot, player close to Manchester United

Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing 29-year-old French international midfielder Adrien Rabiot this summer.

Liverpool have been handed a blow in their pursuit of Adrien Rabiot. The 29-year-old midfielder is now closing in on a move to Manchester United, as per French journalist Romain Collet-Gaudin.

The Frenchman, who has been offered to multiple clubs, is currently a free agent after his contract with Juventus expired, and top clubs around Europe are looking to sign him up.

Liverpool could certainly use a quality central midfielder like him, especially after the departure of Thiago Alcantara. They need someone who can control the proceedings from the middle of the park and help out defensively as well.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup finalist seems like the ideal fit for them, and signing him on a free transfer would have been a wise decision. But it seems that they could miss out on him to their bitter rivals Manchester United, who are now closing in on his signature.

Manchester United closing in on Rabiot

Manchester United need to bring in midfield reinforcements as well and have their sights set on Rabiot. They will be hoping to compete for major trophies next season, and someone like Rabiot could play a key role. The 29-year-old has proven himself for club and country over the years.

The Frenchman has the experience of playing for the biggest clubs in the world as well, and he should be able to settle in quickly and make an instant impact at Manchester United. The Premier League giants have a quality squad. But they need some experience and depth in order to truly compete with the best clubs in the country.

Signing a player like Rabiot on a free transfer would be a masterstroke for them. He has the experience and the quality to improve most teams in the division. Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see if Liverpool decide to move on to other targets now.

The Reds will need to bring in a central midfielder before the transfer window closes. Liverpool should look to invest in a reliable defensive midfielder as well. Whoever ends up signing the 29-year-old on a free transfer will have a major bargain on their hands.
