Real Madrid have received a boost in their pursuit of the services of Liverpool defensive mainstay Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future has been the talk of the town of late with his contract running out in 12 months. According to Miguel Delaney, the English international is expected to continue at Liverpool for another year, but he is inclined towards making a move to Real Madrid when his contract runs out next summer.
Alexander-Arnold has been a part of the Liverpool setup since his childhood days. He came up the ranks at some pace and was promoted to the first team quite early in his career. The right-back has played a big part in all the success that they had under Jurgen Klopp.
Real Madrid interested in Trent Alexander-Arnold
While Liverpool hold Alexander-Arnold in high regard, it seems his long-term future at Anfield is not certain. With his contract running out in 2025, he has been linked with a move away from the club. Real Madrid are one of the clubs who are interested in the 25-year-old full-back.
Los Blancos do have Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez in their ranks for the right-back position. While Carvajal seems to be at the peak of his powers at this point, he is already 32 and even Vazquez is on the wrong side of 30. As a result, Real Madrid need to plan for the long run, and they are interested in having Alexander-Arnold in their squad.
Alexander-Arnold could join Real Madrid next summer
While reports have linked him with a move to Real Madrid ahead of next season, Delaney believes he will continue at Liverpool for at least another season. But, with Alexander-Arnold’s contract expiring and a new deal not yet in place, things could get tricky next summer. The English international is tempted by the opportunity to join Real Madrid, and he could leave as a free agent.
The Liverpool academy graduate has developed a strong friendship with his compatriot Jude Bellingham, who plays for Los Blancos. Their growing bond has resulted in talks around the England squad that it could play a big part in Trent Alexander-Arnold potentially joining the Spanish giants next season when his contract runs out.
He could be an exceptional signing for the team in white. But there is still a long way to go, and Liverpool are expected to try everything in their power to convince their academy graduate to pen down a new deal amid their concerns over his future.
