The Copa America Finalist has a significant opportunity to move out of South America, with the Cottagers currently leading the charge for the midfielder in this window.
Palmeiras names Richar Dios price
Richard Rios might not have been a player known to many before the Copa America, although the Continental championships have put him on the transfer map among European clubs. The Colombian midfielder was a mainstay and integral to his nation’s road to the Final against Argentine, where they ended up on the losing side following a late Lautaro Martinez goal.
Palmeiras are aware of the growing interest in the 24-year-old South American midfielder and are now depending on at least €21 million to sell him. Rios has already shown what he can do in midfield, as he practically dictated the tempo for Colombia during the Copa America.
Fulham are the current frontrunners for Rios and have the necessary funds following the sale of Joao Palhinha. Marco Silva is the driving force behind this pursuit, as they need new midfielders to fill the void left by the Portuguese midfielder, and the Palmeiras star fits the bill in a big way.
Silva is looking to add at least two solid midfielders, with Fulham already close to signing Andre Trindade from Fluminese. It appears they are not leaving Brazil anytime soon and might even broker a deal for Palmeiras star Rios, bringing the dynamic midfield duo to Craven Cottage.
Fulham are prioritising midfield signings
Apart from the two South American midfielders mentioned above, Fulham might consider an additional star in the mix, as Silva might look at the prospect of Premier League experience. Scott McTominay is a significant option for the manager to consider, as Manchester United might eventually decide to sell.
The sale of Palhinha might have given Silva the opportunity to rebuild his midfield with some more poise and character. For now, they are closing in on Andre, but with the price of Rios, Colombia might also be considered, especially after his exploits at the Copa America.
