According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United have reached an agreement on personal terms with Manuel Ugarte, as the midfielder is open to the switch. The lack of Champions League football at Old Trafford has not deterred the Uruguayan from selecting the Red Devils, with an official bid imminent.
Manuel Ugarte agrees to Manchester United’s terms
Manuel Ugarte has emerged as a big midfield target for Manchester United, with PSG open to letting the Uruguayan leave after only one season in Paris. He was signed for around €60 million last summer, which happened to be his release clause at Sporting CP, although the new figures that Manchester United are planning to bid are significantly low.
Manchester Untied have showcased a similar approach to player selection in this window, the first under the leadership of INEOS. They made low bids at the start and then steadily met the selling club’s valuation.
For Ugarte, they are planning on opening with an official bid worth €35 million, which PSG will likely reject, as they will ask for significantly more. In the meantime, Ugarte has given his green light for the move to Old Trafford and has agreed on personal terms with the Red Devils over a long-term deal.
Ugarte is willing to make the switch despite the lack of Champions League football at Old Trafford in the upcoming season. It is all up to Manchester United to agree on a suitable fee with PSG and get the deal on board with a midfielder who is thought to be an essential addition this summer.
Manchester United’s summer plans
Manchester United and INEOS have hit the ground running in a big way this summer as they have already brought in two key additions to their squad. First, it was Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee as they paid his release clause to Bologna. They have also signed Leny Yoro from LOSC Lille in a €62 million move, including add-ons, beating Real Madrid in the process.
Furthermore, Manchester United are looking at adding Ugarte to their midfield, while there are persistent links to another defender in Matthijs de Ligt. For both those deals, the Red Devils still need to agree on a fee with their respective sides, although personal terms are already in place for the duo.
