Fulham preparing bid to sign Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

Fulham will soon submit a proposal to sign 28-year-old Danish international Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Football Insider, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is the subject of interest from Fulham. The Cottagers are keen on signing a midfielder in the summer transfer window. They have set their sights on the 28-year-old Tottenham Hotspur outcast after failing with a bid to sign Scott McTominay.

The Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg story

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Tottenham Hotspur from Southampton in August 2020. The Dane was one of the best midfielders in the Premier League during his spell with the Saints and served the English outfit as the club captain.

The 28-year-old hit the ground running at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, immediately becoming a mainstay in the middle of the park. However, Hojbjerg has seen his stock plummet since Ange Postecoglou took over as the new manager last season. While the player turned out 39 times across all competitions, he could not even manage 1,500 minutes of game time.

So, it is hardly surprising that Hojbjerg faces an uncertain future at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the summer transfer window. In addition, the Danish international has entered the final 12 months of his contract. So, it behoves Tottenham to cash in on him, with Fulham among his prospective suitors.

Move across London on the cards?

Fulham’s interest in Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is understandable. The Cottagers have parted ways with Joao Palhinha in the summer transfer window, with the Portuguese international joining Bayern Munich. Palhinha’s departure has left Marco Silva with Tom Cairney, Harrison Reed, and Sasa Lukic as his only midfield options.

Scott McTominay is a target for Fulham, although they have already faced rejection with a bid. In addition, Tottenham might hijack Fulham’s move for the Manchester United midfielder. So, Hojbjerg is a viable alternative, with the West London club formulating an offer to sign the 28-year-old Tottenham outcast.

With Fulham preparing a bid, it will be interesting to see if the opening offer does the trick. The Danish international is a viable target for the West London club, and they should push for his signature if McTominay is unattainable.
