Manchester United have reportedly knocked back a bid worth less than £30 million from Fulham for the services of 27-year-old homegrown player Scott McTominay.
According to a report by Chris Wheeler on Daily Mail, Scott McTominay is the subject of interest from Fulham. The Cottagers are keen on signing a midfielder in the summer transfer window and have offered a deal worth less than £30 million for the Manchester United midfielder. However, the Red Devils have turned down the offer for their 27-year-old homegrown player.
The Scott McTominay story
Scott McTominay has been a solid performer since breaking into the first-team squad at Old Trafford several years ago. The Scot made his senior bow for Manchester United towards the end of the 2016/17 season and has been a regular for the Premier League heavyweights in the last seven years.
While the 27-year-old has not justified being the undisputed first-choice midfielder for Manchester United, he has been good enough to be a regular. McTominay has turned out over 250 times thus far for the Red Devils while chipping in with 29 goals and eight assists.
However, the Scottish international faces an uncertain future at Manchester United in the summer transfer window after entering the final 12 months of his contract. The situation has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known Premier League clubs, including Fulham.
London calling?
Fulham’s interest in Scott McTominay is understandable. The Cottagers are scouring the market for a midfielder in the summer transfer window after losing Joao Palhinha, who has joined Bayern Munich this month. So, several candidates, including Andre Trindade, feature on Fulham’s radar, with McTominay also a viable target.
The latest update has revealed that Fulham recently submitted a bid worth less than £30 million to sign the 27-year-old Manchester United homegrown player. However, the Red Devils have turned down the West London club’s offer, probably because they want to recoup a higher sum from the Scot’s sale.
It is unclear if Manchester United will look to cash in on McTominay after his goalscoring exploits in the 2023/24 season. It will be interesting to see if Fulham will return with an improved bid to sign the Scottish international in the summer transfer window.
