Leicester City are keen on signing Tottenham graduate Oliver Skipp as they look to reinforce their squad following their return to the top flight.
According to a report from Football Insider, Leicester City are looking to ensure they have enough quality in their squad to survive in the Premier League. They are looking to reinforce their midfield following the departure of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Tottenham’s Oliver Skipp is on their radar.
Skipp came up the ranks at the North London club at some pace. He was promoted to their first team in 2018. He even had a loan spell at Norwich back in the day. Despite being around for years, he hasn’t been able to establish himself as a regular starter.
In Ange Postecoglou’s first season in charge, he only managed 24 appearances majority of which came off the bench. While the academy graduate is an important squad player, Spurs seem ready to cash in on him as he will represent pure profit.
Leicester seek Dewsbury-Hall replacement
Leicester City are one of the clubs who are interested in the services of the 23-year-old who prefers playing as a defensive midfield but can even feature in an advanced role as well as full-back if needed.
The Foxes recently parted ways with Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall who played a big part in their return to the top flight. The 25-year-old has completed a move to giants Chelsea in a deal worth around £30 million.
Now, to ensure they survive in the Premier League, they want to bring in a quality replacement. The Foxes want someone who has already featured at the top in England and can slot into their starting XI without much trouble. They feel the Tottenham graduate could be an ideal fit for them as he has some experience under his belt and will only get better with time.
They are plotting a move for the English sensation who could be excited to have the opportunity to play regular first-team football. While Spurs are ready to sanction his departure, they won’t let him leave on the cheap. With his contract running until 2027, Tottenham will have the upper hand in negotiations and they could demand a significant fee.
