Arsenal open to loaning out Aaron Ramsdale instead of permanent sale

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are inclined to send Aaron Ramsdale out on loan, as they are struggling to attract interest for a permanent sale.

According to a report from Graeme Bailey on HITC, Arsenal are now considering sending Aaron Ramsdale out on loan. The English shot-stopper was reduced to the substitute bench last season, and he is keen on making a move away in search of regular first-team action. While the Gunners prefer a permanent sale, interested clubs are not willing to meet their demands, and they are now open to loaning him out.

Aaron Ramsdale wants to leave Arsenal

Ramsdale was the undisputed Arsenal number one until the start of last season. But, the arrival of David Raya from Brentford saw him fall down the pecking order. While Mikel Arteta did suggest that they would compete for a place in the starting XI, the Spanish goalkeeper was the preferred choice for the role.

The former Sheffield United shot-stopper was only involved in 11 matches throughout the 2023/24 season. Frustrated by the lack of minutes, Aaron Ramsdale is keen on securing a move away from the North London club in search of regular first-team action.

He has already informed the club chiefs that he does not intend on being Raya’s backup in the upcoming season. With just two years left on his contract, the Gunners are ready to cash in on his services but they are looking for over £40 million for the 26-year-old.

Arsenal to send Ramsdale out on loan

Arsenal have not had the best of times in the ongoing transfer window. They have not been able to bring in their top targets to the club so far. The North Londoners were also looking to raise funds by sanctioning a few of their players, Raya’s name was at the top of that list. But, it seems they have not had any luck so far.

While multiple clubs are interested in Aaron Ramsdale, Arsenal’s massive £40 million asking price is a major roadblock for interested clubs. With the Gunners finding it hard to generate interest for a permanent sale, they are now considering sending him out on loan for next season.

But, his options still seem to be limited with Southampton being a potential destination. As a result, it will be interesting to see where the Englishman ends up playing his football in the 2024/25 season.
