Leny Yoro set to join Manchester United, sign five-year contract

Manchester United have won the race to sign Leny Yoro, with the teenage defender set to fly into the UK for his medical tests.

According to reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United have seemingly won the race to sign Leny Yoro, with the teenager set to fly in for his medical tests. The Red Devils reached an agreement with LOSC Lille a few days ago, with the 18-year-old Real Madrid target now set to commit to a five-year deal at Old Trafford.

Leny Yoro chooses Manchester United

It has been a tricky few days with the Leny Yoro situation, with Manchester United agreeing to a €50 million deal plus bonuses with LOSC Lille for the teenage defender. The 18-year-old wanted to join Real Madrid, who were keen but not willing to pay in the region of what the Red Devils had offered.

Yoro was patiently waiting for things to develop, as many had projected Real Madrid to broker a deal similar to the one they did for Eduardo Camavinga a few years ago. The teenager had entered the final year of his deal at Lille, and there were no signs he would have signed a new deal at the Ligue 1 side.

Hence, selling him was the only option, and only Manchester United had made a concrete bid. With the defender’s intention to join Real Madrid made crystal clear, other parties like Liverpool and PSG had already bowed out of the race.

In what appears like a final take on his immediate future, Yoro has seemingly chosen Manchester United as his new club. The 18-year-old is now set to fly out to the UK for his medicals, and following that, he will sign a five-year deal with the option of an additional year.

Leny Yoro has undergone part of his Manchester United medicals

In what was a massive update in the Yoro saga earlier today, David Ornstein reported that Yoro had undergone his medicals. It is a significant step to acquiring the teenage defender, as he will then sign his contract with Manchester United. Fabrizio Romano has suggested that he has undertaken the first part of his medical.

Meanwhile, Florian Plettenberg has reported that the expected arrival of Yoro will more or less end the pursuit of Matthijs de Ligt. Manchester United are not willing to pay the €50 million plus add-ons that Bayern Munich are demanding, which quashes the rumours that the Red Devils were planning on bringing De Ligt and Yoro in the same window.
