Fulham are considering making an improved offer for Arsenal graduate Emile Smith Rowe after falling short with their opening bid.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal have turned down Fulham’s opening bid for the services of Emile Smith Rowe. While they might have failed, the Cottagers retain their interest in the English attacking midfielder and are considering making an improved offer soon.
Smith Rowe has been a part of the Arsenal setup since 2010. He came up the ranks at some pace and was promoted to their first team back in 2020. The 23-year-old had quite an impact after being promoted to the first team but recent seasons haven’t gone according to plan.
The English international has struggled with injuries following which he has gone down the pecking order under Mikel Arteta. He has hardly played any first-team football in the last two seasons having been on the pitch for less than 1,000 minutes in total.
His future at North London club doesn’t look that great. The player is eager for regular minutes which he might not get at Arsenal and with his contract running out in two years, multiple clubs are willing to bet on the youngster who still has time on his hands to turn things around.
Meanwhile, reports suggest Arsenal are ready to cash in on the homegrown star as his departure will mean pure profit for their books. But, they are looking for a significant fee to part ways with him.
Fulham retain interest in Smith Rowe
Fulham are one of the interested clubs as Marco Silva looks to strengthen his attack. He is keen on having a new number 10 in his ranks and Smith Rowe could be an ideal fit for his team. The Cottagers have already been in negotiations with the Gunners.
They had recently submitted their initial bid but it has been turned down by the North London club. Despite a major setback in their pursuit of the Arsenal academy graduate, Fulham retain their interest in him.
They consider the 23-year-old their priority target for the summer and are pondering about making an improved offer in the coming days. They are looking to invest a part of the sum earned from Joao Palhinha’s transfer. But, in the end, the deal depends on the Gunners and their demands.
