Everton in transfer tussle to sign Tanner Tessmann

Everton are keen on signing Tanner Tessmann from Inter Milan as a potential replacement for Amadou Onana, who is bound for Aston Villa.

Everton are considering a move for new Inter Milan midfielder Tanner Tessmann, as per Corriere dello Sport via Sport Witness. The Toffees are in the market for a new midfielder to offset the loss of Aston Villa-bound Amadou Onana, and they can also face competition from another fellow Premier League side for the American.

Everton keen on Tanner Tessmann

Tanner Tessmann has had a good time at Venezia, helping the team gain promotion back to Serie A. Inter Milan wasted no time in securing the two-time USMNT star, although they have no interest in integrating him ahead of the new season, as Simone Inzaghi does not see any space for him.

Hence, the obvious choice ahead of the summer is to either sell or loan him. The former would land them a quick profit on the investment, given that Premier League sides are keen on the midfielder. The 22-year-old American midfielder may not see a future at the San Siro, at least immediately, which could see him show an interest in playing for an English club.

In fact, Everton is the one showing the most interest in the defensive midfielder, as Sean Dyche is keen to add a player in that position. Now, they might have to make a good enough offer for Inter Milan to consider, as the Tiffees may not want this pursuit to lose relevance.

Hence, with Ipswich Town also reportedly in the race, Everton must get a deal in place, with Tessmann unlikely to cost a great deal of money. Everton is in the market for a defensive midfielder following the sale of Amadou Onana, who will undergo his medical at Aston Villa soon. Now, whether Tessmann is their primary choice to replace the Belgian remains to be seen.

Everton considering further midfield options

Moving along the lines of Tessmann, Everton has a few other names to consider, although much will depend on how Dyche sees the position evolving. For instance, they are keen on the experienced Arthur Melo, who might need a strong coach and settle down after a few years of uncertainty.

Then there’s Chelsea’s Lesley Ugochukwue, who seems like a raw product despite some impressive performances over the last two years. Hence, Everton is exploring the market for a proper Onana replacement, and they will have options to consider.
