Premier League heavyweights Arsenal expect new offers for 23-year-old homegrown player Emile Smith Rowe amid his links with Fulham and Crystal Palace.
According to a report by the London Evening Standard, Emile Smith Rowe faces an uncertain future at Arsenal in the summer transfer window. The Gunners are bracing themselves for new bids for the 23-year-old homegrown player after rejecting an opening offer by Fulham. In addition, the versatile midfielder is a target for Crystal Palace.
The rise and fall of Emile Smith Rowe
Emile Smith Rowe has endured two frustrating campaigns due to fitness issues after showing promising signs a few years ago. Mikel Arteta has been an admirer of the Englishman’s talent and potential, giving him regular game time in his early days as the North London club’s manager.
The 23-year-old has been with Arsenal for nearly a decade and a half and made his first-team bow almost half a dozen years ago. However, Smith Rowe could not even manage 500 minutes of game time across 19 appearances in all competitions in the 2023/24 season, although he provided two assists.
With Emile Smith Rowe’s game time dwindling, it is hardly surprising that a new adventure might be on the cards in the summer transfer window. A move across the Premier League might be possible, with Crystal Palace and Fulham keen on the Arsenal homegrown player. Meanwhile, the Gunners are expecting new offers for the versatile midfielder.
Move across London on the horizon?
Crystal Palace’s interest in Emile Smith Rowe is understandable. The Eagles have been scouring the market for a versatile midfielder heading into the summer transfer window after losing Michael Olise, who has joined Bayern Munich. So, the Arsenal academy graduate is a viable target for Crystal Palace.
As for Fulham, they have already failed with their opening bid to sign the 23-year-old Englishman but are preparing a new bid to secure his services. With Bobby De Cordova-Reid departing from Craven Cottage and Willian facing an uncertain future, Fulham must sign a player who can play on the flanks.
While Smith Rowe is a viable target for Crystal Palace and Fulham, a summer move will not see the light of day unless they meet Arsenal’s asking price. So, it will be interesting to see if a deal materialises in the coming weeks.
