West Ham United have knocked on the doors of Everton for their star striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin amidst interest from Newcastle United.
According to a report from Football Insider, West Ham United are looking to bring in a new striker this summer and have enquired about the availability of Everton attacking ace Dominic Calvert-Lewin amidst his uncertain future.
Calvert-Lewin joined the Merseyside club back in 2016 from Sheffield United in a deal worth just £1.5 million fee. He has featured in close to 250 matches for them and has scored 68 goals so far. While he was on the rise a few seasons back, injuries have been a major roadblock for him.
The 27-year-old striker has missed a significant amount of matches over the years and his recent form hasn’t been that great. After missing a handful of games in the 2022/23 campaign, he did feature in 36 league games last season but could only manage seven goals.
Despite not being at his best, multiple Premier League clubs are interested in his services. Talks with Everton over a new deal haven’t gone according to plan and with his contract running out in 12 months, there are high chances of him leaving the club.
West Ham & Newcastle keen on Calvert-Lewin
West Ham United and Newcastle United are aware of his contract situation and are looking to strike a cut-price deal with the Toffees this summer. The Magpies are looking to add another striker to their squad and they were in talks with Everton regarding a deal earlier in the month. While those talks didn’t yield a positive result, the Tyneside club have retained their interest in him.
Meanwhile, the Hammers have entered the race for the services of the English international and are looking to beat the competition. Julen Lopetegui is keen on bolstering his squad ahead of his first season at the hot seat. They have already added Max Kilman and Luis Guilherme to their squad and are now looking to bring in a top striker.
Calvert-Lewin is one of the names on their wishlist and they have approached Everton to learn more about a potential deal. Despite his recent struggles, he could be an exceptional signing for the Hammers for a cut-price fee given the amount of experience he has. As a result, it is one to keep an eye on.
