Aston Villa rival Everton in Jesper Lindstrom chase, make approach

Aston Villa have made an enquiry for misfiring Napoli man Jesper Lindstrom, with Everton also keen on the Danish international.

According to Il Mattino via Sport Witness, Aston Villa have enquired about Jesper Lindstrom ahead of a potential move to the Premier League. The Danish international is not overly excited by a move anywhere and would like to experience life under Antonio Conte at Napoli. At the same time, Everton are also keen on the attacking midfielder.

Aston Villa in Jesper Lindstrom enquiry

Unai Emery is looking for smart options in the market to improve his squad ahead of one of Aston Villa’s most important seasons in a long time. The Basque tactician wants to add quality depth to his squad and is willing to make sacrifices. For instance, they might be looking for a new winger, considering Moussa Diaby has continued to attract Saudi interest.

Secondly, some players have left after their loan spells, such as Clement Lenglet and Nicolo Zaniolo. Aston Villa are reportedly keen on Jesper Lindstrom, so there is a need to add some depth in the vacant space left by the latter.

The Premier League club have reportedly enquired about the 24-year-old attacker, who has had a dismal time since joining Serie A club Napoli last season from Eintracht Frankfurt. The big issue is that Lindstrom is leaning towards staying put at the club to experience life under new coach Antonio Conte.

However, he will be a secondary choice, which could give Aston Villa some hope. The enquiry is surprising considering Jesper Lindstrom has had a terrible season, and the report suggests Napoli hopes to generate at least €30 million from his sale.

Everton already chasing Lindstrom

Everton are very keen on Lindstrom, as Sean Dyche wants to add a different element to his attacking setup. As things stand, the Toffees have a chance to convince the Dane and might give him a more prominent role, although the club’s current plight might not interest the 24-year-old attacker.

Aston Villa might only offer him a secondary role. At Villa, playing in the Champions League is an option, unlike at Everton or even Napoli. So, Lindstrom might lean towards staying in Europe in one form or another. Hence, he might deliberate longer to decide on his future, although Napoli might push the boat should they receive an offer close to their €30 million asking rate.
