Amadou Onana will undergo Aston Villa medical after his holidays

Belgian midfield star Amadou Onana is set to undergo his medical with Aston Villa once he returns from his holidays.

Aston Villa and Everton have agreed a deal worth over £50 million for the transfer of Amadou Onana and according to Fabrizio Romano, the Belgian international will undergo his medical at his new club after he returns from his holidays.

Onana arrived at the Merseyside club back in the summer of 2022 after making a name for himself at LOSC Lille. While the Toffees haven’t been doing great in the recent past, the midfield sensation has hardly put a foot wrong since arriving at Goodison Park.

He has been a standout performer for them and his consistent performances helped him earn a place in the Belgian squad for Euro 2024. The 22-year-old played every minute of their campaign as they were knocked out by France in the round of 16.

Onana is currently on a well-earned holiday. While he will soon be back in England, the Belgian star won’t be seen in the blue of Everton. The Toffees were keen on having him around for a few more years but they were in desperate need of funds to improve their squad.

Onana to play for Aston Villa next season

As a result, they decided to sanction his departure amidst interest from Aston Villa. Villa parted ways with Douglas Luiz and were in search of a top-quality defensive midfielder to bolster their midfield as they prepare for Champions League football.

Onana was a top target for Unai Emery’s team and they have managed to strike a deal with Everton for his services. He could be a great acquisition for the short as well as the long run. The player is quite excited about playing under the Spanish manager and being a part of this interesting project at Villa Park.

Villa have already agreed on a deal worth £50 million plus add-ons along with a sell-on clause to sign Onana. The two clubs currently preparing documents for the completion of the transfer and his new club have already scheduled his medical. The Belgian star will undergo medical as a new Villa player after his returns from his holidays.
