Marseille preparing €25 million bid for Eddie Nketiah

Olympique Marseille are gearing up to submit an offer worth €25 million for the services of Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah.

According to a report from the CaughtOffside, Arsenal are ready to sanction the departure of their academy graduate Eddie Nketiah for the right price. There is interest in his services from Olympique Marseille who are planning to submit a bid worth €25 million to sign the English international. However, Arsenal’s valuation is a touch on the higher side.

Nketiah joined the Arsenal youth ranks back in 2015 after parting ways with Chelsea. He made it to Arsenal’s first team back in the summer of 2019. Unfortunately, he has never really had an extended run in the senior team despite the promise that he has shown.

He has gone down the pecking order under Mikel Arteta in recent seasons. Last time out, he was involved in 37 matches but was on the pitch for less than 1,400 minutes. While he still has three years left on his contract, Nketiah seems keen on making a move away in search of regular minutes.

The Gunners are also ready to cash in on their academy graduate for the right price. Since he is a homegrown player, the money raised from his departure will be registered as pure profit which will help them secure their target.

Olympique Marseille keen on signing Nketiah

Arsenal want a top-quality striker this window and Nketiah’s sale could help them sign one. Olympique Marseille are the ones keen on signing the English ace. The French club want to make statement signings in this window as they are after his signature as well as those of Mason Greenwood.

The Ligue 1 outfit have been in contact with the player’s entourage and they are preparing to submit an opening offer worth €25 million for the Arsenal youth product. But, it might not be enough as Arsenal do not want to sanction his departure on the cheap.

They want around €35-40 million for Nketiah’s services and they feel they are in a strong position to hold out on their asking price given the number of Premier League clubs that want to sign the 25-year-old. Marseille might have to work on their offer if they want to sign Nketiah given the amount of clubs that are after his signature.
