Crystal Palace have decided to keep hold of their defensive star Marc Guehi amidst interest from Manchester United.
According to a report from Football Insider, Crystal Palace have decided against selling their defensive mainstay Marc Guehi. Oliver Glasner is determined to keep him in his squad despite interest from Premier League giants Manchester United.
Guehi came up the ranks at Chelsea but he made the move to Selhurst Park in search of regular minutes. The move to Palace seems to have done wonders for the English centre-back as he has only gone from strength to strength since joining them in 2021.
While injuries did keep him out for a significant amount of time, Guehi was a consistent performer in the 29 matches he was involved in. He made a return just in time to get selected in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2024 and has further enhanced his reputation thanks to his performances for the Three Lions.
Manchester United want to sign Guehi
The 23-year-old centre-back still has two years left on his contract with Crystal Palace but multiple top clubs are trying to prise him away from the Eagles. Manchester United are one of the clubs keen on signing Guehi ahead of next season.
The Red Devils are in desperate need to reinforce their backline and they are pushing for the services of multiple centre-backs. Guehi is one of their top targets following the exit of Raphael Varane and they have been working hard to strike a deal with Palace for his services.
Glanser determined to keep Guehi
While United are quite serious about their pursuit of the English international, they might not be able to sign him this summer as Oliver Glasner is keen on keeping hold of the young defender.
After making an impressive start to his managerial stint at Crystal Palace, the Austrian manager wants to ensure he has the core of the team together to ensure they can start from where they had left last season.
With Michael Olise joining Bayern Munich, Glasner doesn’t want Guehi to also end up leaving the club and is determined to keep him at Selhurst Park for at least another season. While Palace expect quite a few offers for the 23-year-old, they do want to sanction his departure as he is integral to their plans moving ahead.
