Manchester United have €50 million bid accepted for Leny Yoro

Manchester United have reportedly succeeded with a bid to sign Leny Yoro from Ligue 1 club LOSC Lille, but the 18-year-old prefers a move to Real Madrid.

According to reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Leny Yoro is the subject of interest from Manchester United. The Premier League heavyweights submitted a bid worth €50 million to sign the LOSC Lille prodigy, with the Ligue 1 club accepting the offer. However, the 18-year-old prefers to join Real Madrid instead of Manchester United.

The rise and rise of Leny Yoro

Leny Yoro has established himself as one of the best young players in the world since breaking into the first-team squad at LOSC Lille as a 16-year-old. Despite being only 18 years old, he has become a mainstay at the back for Les Dogues.

The Frenchman turned out 44 times across all competitions for Lille in the 2023/24 season while chipping in with three goals. Meanwhile, Leny Yoro’s progress at the Ligue 1 club has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe, including Real Madrid and Manchester United.

High in demand

Real Madrid will likely delve into the market for a centre-back in the summer transfer window after losing Nacho as a free agent. In addition, Rafa Marin is on the verge of joining Serie A club Napoli in the coming days. Meanwhile, Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba are on the wrong side of 30.

So, it behoves Real Madrid to sign a highly-rated young defensive prospect to be Eder Militao’s long-term centre-back partner. Yoro has thus emerged as a viable target, with Los Blancos making an offer to sign him this week. However, Real Madrid’s bid is significantly lower than Manchester United’s, with the Red Devils proposing a deal worth €50 million.

The update by Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Manchester United’s offer has pleased LOSC Lille, with the Ligue 1 club accepting the proposal. The Red Devils want to sign a centre-back this summer after losing Raphael Varane as a free agent. However, Manchester United face a tall order in the race to secure Leny Yoro’s services.

The 18-year-old French prodigy is ready to wait another year to join Real Madrid as a free agent. A separate update by Fabrizio Romano has suggested that the reigning La Liga champions view Leny Yoro’s case as similar to Eduardo Camavinga, who was also a target for Manchester United before joining Los Blancos. So, a move to Real Madrid is the likeliest scenario for the youngster.
