Dominic Calvert-Lewin turns down Everton contract offer amid Manchester United links

Manchester United have received a major boost in their pursuit of Dominic Calvert-Lewin as he has turned down a contract extension offer from Everton.

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Manchester United are keen on reinforcing their attack ahead of next season. They are looking to bring top-quality strikers to add more firepower to their final third, and Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin is one of the names on their wishlist. With the English international turning down a contract offer from the Toffees, the Red Devils have an ideal opportunity to sign him this summer.

Calvert-Lewin’s last contract extension with Everton came in March 2020. While he made an impressive start to his career at Goodison Park, things have not been that great for him since penning down that deal. He has struggled with injuries and over the last two seasons, he has only scored seven goals in his 34 league outings.

Despite his form, the Toffees are keen on extending the 27-year-old’s stay at the club as they feel he can still turn things around. While they handed him a new deal, Calvert-Lewin has turned down the latest renewal offer amidst interest in his services from Manchester United.

Manchester United want to sign Calvert-Lewin

The Reds Devils are closing in on the signature of Joshu Zirkzee. The Dutch striker is expected to complete the move to Old Trafford soon, and he could form a great partnership with Rasmus Hojlund up top.

Even if they manage to sign Zirkzee, the Red Devils want to add another number nine to the mix this summer as per the report. So, Dominic Calvert-Lewin is one of the names on Manchester United’s wishlist this summer.

He has a lot of experience of playing in the Premier League and since he still has a lot of years left at the top, they are willing to bet on him despite his injury struggles. Manchester United have just received a boost in their pursuit as he rejected a contract renewal offer from Everton, and his departure this summer looks almost certain.

With his contract running out in 2025, there is a risk of him leaving for free next year. As a result, the Toffees will prefer cashing in on him. Manchester United are closely monitoring the 27-year-old’s situation and await Everton’s decision regarding his future.
