Liverpool step up interest in Lutsharel Geertruida, Crysencio Summerville

Premier League heavyweights Liverpool have reportedly held talks to sign Dutch duo Lutsharel Geertruida and Crysencio Summerville this summer.

According to a report by reputed journalist Graeme Bailey on HITC, Lutsharel Geertruida and Crysencio Summerville are the subjects of interest in Liverpool. The Reds are keen on signing a versatile defender and a productive winger in the summer transfer window. And they have held talks to sign the Dutch duo as Arne Slot looks to kick-start his spell at Anfield.

Lutsharel Geertruida has become one of the most highly sought-after defenders in the Eredivisie in the last few years. A native of Rotterdam, the Dutchman has gone from strength to strength since breaking into the first-team squad at Feyenoord. He has become a productive right-back but can also play as a centre-back.

The 23-year-old was excellent in the 2023/24 season, chipping in with nine goals and five assists in 47 appearances across all competitions. As for Crysencio Summerville, he has seen his stock skyrocket after a superb 2023/24 campaign with Leeds United, where he was a productive winger for the Whites.

The 22-year-old was exceptional throughout the campaign, contributing to 31 goals in 49 outings across all competitions by finding the back of the net 21 times and providing ten assists. Geertruida and Summerville have captured the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe with their exploits, including Liverpool.

Liverpool’s interest in Lutsharel Geertruida is understandable. The Reds have been scouring the market for a centre-back heading into the summer transfer window. They might also need a right-back if Trent Alexander-Arnold plays as a midfielder in the 2024/25 season.
