Real Madrid will demand at least €20 million to part ways with Dani Ceballos amid his links with Atletico Madrid and Girona.
According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Dani Ceballos is the subject of interest from Atletico Madrid and Girona. The two La Liga clubs have been keen on poaching the 27-year-old from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, Los Blancos will demand at least €20 million to part ways with him.
Dani Ceballos and his Real Madrid struggles
Dani Ceballos has failed to fulfil his tremendous potential since joining Real Madrid from Real Betis in July 2017. The Spaniard was among the most highly-rated midfield prospects in the world when he arrived at the Bernabeu seven years ago. However, he has never been a regular for Los Blancos.
Ceballos’s best phase in the last seven years came during his long loan spell at Arsenal, where he was a pivotal figure. However, the 27-year-old has seen his fortunes plummet after returning to Real Madrid, with the rise of Federico Valverde, Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga, and Jude Bellingham coinciding with the period.
So, the Spanish midfielder managed less than 1,000 minutes of game time across 27 appearances in all competitions, even though he was available for most of the 2023/24 season. A summer departure from the Santiago Bernabeu is thus on the cards, with Atletico Madrid and Girona keen on signing him from Real Madrid.
Move across La Liga in the pipeline?
Atletico Madrid’s interest in Dani Ceballos is understandable. The Colchoneros were also keen on signing the 27-year-old Real Madrid outcast last summer before a move failed to materialise. This year, they need someone like Ceballos even more, with Saul Niguez’s future uncertain.
As for Girona, they have lost Aleix Garcia after a historic 2023/24 campaign that ended with qualification for the UEFA Champions League. The Spaniard has joined Bayer Leverkusen, creating a gaping hole in the midfield unit. So, it behoves Girona to sign a midfielder, with Ceballos emerging as a viable target. They now know the asking price, with Real Madrid demanding at least €20 million to sell him.
Real Madrid’s asking price is fair despite Dani Ceballos’s dwindling fortunes. It will be interesting to see if Atletico Madrid and Girona are ready to cough up more than €20 million to land the 27-year-old Spanish midfielder in the summer transfer window.
