Manchester United have advantage in Adrien Rabiot chase

Manchester United may have an advantage in the race for Adrien Rabiot as they might be in a stronger position to pay his wage demands.

According to Caught Offside, Manchester United could pip their rivals in the race for Adrien Rabiot as they are in a strong position to pay the midfielder his required wages. The 29-year-old’s Frenchman is a free agent as things stand and wants a €10 million-a-season three-year deal.

Manchester United in pole position for Adrien Rabiot?

Adrien Rabiot seems like an interesting option in the transfer market, as he’s effectively available on a free transfer. A host of clubs are keen on his signature, with a bulk of those coming from the Premier League, including Manchester United.

The midfielder has not agreed on an extension at Juventus as Rabiot continues to evaluate all possible offers coming his way. Liverpool and Real Madrid had made enquiries, while there’s considerable interest from within Italy, with AC Milan and Inter Milan keen. Juventus is still pushing to keep him on board.

The big issue for any of these clubs here is with his wages, as the 29-year-old wants a €10-million-a-season, three-year contract to join a new club. That asking salary does rule out all of those Italian sides, while Real Madrid might be reluctant, and this is where Manchester United might have an advantage.

Manchester United have held initial talks with Rabiot’s camp, mainly with his mother, who also happens to be his agent. The Red Devils desperately need experience in their midfield, and the 29-year-old certainly brings plenty of it. Should they agree to pay the salary the midfielder currently demands, they will surely have the big upper hand in this race.

Rabiot race very much open

While Manchester United might have the financial might to beat teams in Italy for Rabiot’s signature, the race for the 29-year-old seems to be open. The midfielder might lean heavily on achieving his wage demands; he might even be open to joining an overseas club like one in Saudi Arabia if that gets him the correct contract.

He would also not rule out staying put at Juventus, as the Bianconeri are still trying to get him signed up. The Turin giants have already strengthened their midfield with the signing of Douglas Luiz, although they would very much like to keep Rabiot as well. However, Manchester United may outmuscle them in the financial race and bring the 29-year-old to Old Trafford if things play out their way.
