Fulham and West Ham United are reportedly interested in signing 29-year-old Scottish international Jack Hendry from Al-Ettifaq in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Graeme Bailey on HITC, Fulham and West Ham United are interested in Jack Hendry. The two Premier League clubs are keen on signing a centre-back in the summer transfer window. The 29-year-old Al-Ettifaq centre-back has thus emerged as a target for the two London outfits.
Who is Jack Hendry?
Jack Hendry has been a journeyman throughout his career thus far. A native of Glasgow, he spent most of his formative years with Celtic before graduating from the youth division at Partick Thistle nearly a decade ago. Since then, the Scot has turned out for several clubs across Europe.
The 29-year-old has represented Wigan Athletic, Shrewsbury Town, MK Dons, Dundee FC, Celtic, Melbourne City FC, KV Oostende, Club Brugge, and Cremonese before joining Al-Ettifaq last summer. Hendry was a regular for the Saudi Pro League outfit, turning out 36 times across all competitions.
However, a summer move might be on the cards for the Scottish international, with Premier League clubs keen on signing him in the summer transfer window. A move to London might be in the pipeline, with Fulham and West Ham United vying for his signature.
London calling?
Fulham’s interest in Jack Hendry is understandable. The Cottagers have been scouring the market for a centre-back heading into the summer transfer window after losing Tosin Adarabioyo as a free agent. In addition, Tim Ream is in the twilight of his career and might move to MLS this year. So, it behoves Fulham to sign a centre-back, with Hendry a viable target.
As for West Ham, they have shown interest in several centre-backs, including Jean-Clair Todibo, with Hendry also an option worth considering. The Hammers are in a spot of bother over the long-term future of Nayef Aguerd. So, the 29-year-old Scottish international has emerged as a target.
Fulham and West Ham United face stiff competition from Saudi Pro League clubs for Jack Hendry’s signature. So, it will be interesting to see if one of the two London clubs can win the race to sign the Scot from Al-Ettifaq.
