Everton, Fulham, West Ham United in talks to sign Matt O’Riley

Everton, Fulham, and West Ham United have held talks with Danish midfield sensation Matt O’Riley over a potential transfer.

According to a report from HITC, Premier League clubs are keen on taking Matt O’Riley away from Celtic after his exceptional 2023/24 campaign. Everton, Fulham, and West Ham United are all interested in his signature and have held talks with the London-born midfielder regarding a move.

Things did not work out for O’Riley at Fulham, and he parted ways with his childhood club in the summer of 2020. He made a return with MK Dons before moving to Scotland in the winter of 2022. The 23-year-old has gone from strength to strength since joining Celtic, and his consistent performances have not gone unnoticed.

The central midfielder was involved in 49 matches last season and managed to contribute towards 37 goals. Despite scoring 19 goals and bagging another 18 assists, O’Riley was left out of Denmark’s Euro 2024 squad. However, he has managed to put himself on the wishlist of quite a few top Premier League clubs.

Fulham, West Ham, and Everton want to sign O’Riley

Fulham are keen on bringing him back to the club. The Cottagers could only manage a 13th-placed finish last season and to improve on that, they are looking to reinforce the centre of the park.

O’Riley is familiar with everything that goes on at the club having come up their ranks and given his recent performances, he will surely help them take the next step. The player might feel that he has some unfinished business at the London club.

The Cottagers will face competition from Everton and West Ham United. The Merseyside club managed to survive the drop despite being handed a points deduction because of FFP reasons. In order to bounce back, Everton want to make major changes to their squad. O’Riley is one of their targets as they look to reshape the midfield.

After taking over at West Ham as their new boss, Julen Lopetegui is now keen on adding more quality to his midfield. He wants to add another attacking-minded player to the mix amidst uncertainty over Lucas Paquetá’s future at the club.

While all three English clubs have held talks with the player regarding a potential transfer, they will have to meet the demands of Celtic if they want to sign one of their best players. The Scottish club will only part ways with their Player of the Year for a record fee of £30 million. They want him to be their most expensive sale ever.
