Barcelona preparing improved bid to sign Marc Domenech

La Liga heavyweights Barcelona are reportedly preparing a new proposal to sign 18-year-old RCD Mallorca attacking sensation Marc Domenech.

According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Marc Domenech is the subject of interest from Barcelona. The Catalan giants have already failed with an offer to sign the 18-year-old attacking sensation. However, they are preparing a new bid to secure the services of the RCD Mallorca prodigy in the summer transfer window.

Who is Marc Domenech?

Marc Domenech is the latest highly-rated Spanish wonderkid to rise in prominence in the country. The Spaniard has spent his formative years with RCD Mallorca and has set age-group football in the lower leagues alight with his exploits in the final third.

The 18-year-old attacking sensation was on loan at CD San Francisco and found the back of the net 21 times in the league. Domenech has returned to RCD Mallorca but might not have a long-term future at the Spanish club heading into the summer transfer window amid emerging interest in his services.

Marc Domenech’s exploits have not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs, particularly in La Liga. The Spanish attacking sensation is a target for Barcelona, with the Blaugrana the only outfit to submit a bid to sign him, offering €300,000 to secure his services in the summer transfer window.

Barcelona move on the horizon?

Barcelona’s interest in Marc Domenech is understandable. The Catalan giants have lost Marc Guiu this week, with the teenage prospect joining Chelsea in a bargain move. Guiu’s departure has created a void in the reserve team, with Rafael Marquez demanding a new striker for his side.

Domenech has thus emerged as a viable target, with Marquez already giving the green light to secure his services. Talks with the Spaniard’s entourage and RCD Mallorca are progressing well. So, a move across La Liga might be on the cards for the young attacker, with Barcelona preparing a new proposal to land him.

Interestingly, Marc Domenech’s release clause will increase from €1 million to €3 million if he moves to the reserve team in the 2024/25 season. So, it is hardly surprising that an offer worth €300,000 did not work. It will be interesting to see if the new bid seals the deal.
