Arsenal, Fulham, and West Ham United have reportedly scouted Dutch-born Turkish international Ferdi Kadioglu at UEFA Euro 2024.
According to a report by Turkish outlet Milat Gazetesi, Ferdi Kadioglu had nine clubs scouting him during the game between Turkiye and Austria in the UEFA Euro 2024 round of 16. Arsenal, Fulham, and West Ham United were among the Premier League outfits monitoring the Dutch-born Turkish international, with Fenerbahce demanding around €35 million to part ways with him.
The rise of Ferdi Kadioglu at Fenerbahce
Ferdi Kadioglu has established himself as one of the best players in the Turkish Super Lig since joining Fenerbahce in July 2018. Born in Arnhem, he spent his formative year in the Netherlands before graduating from the youth division at NEC Nijmegen. However, his stock has risen after moving to Turkiye.
The 24-year-old represented the Netherlands in age-group football but has chosen Turkiye as his national side. Meanwhile, Kadioglu has turned out nearly 200 times thus far for Fenerbahce, chipping in with 17 goals and 22 assists. The player’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs, including Arsenal, Fulham, and West Ham United. The three clubs scouted him in action against Austria in the UEFA Euro 2024 round of 16.
A man in demand
The Turkish international has been on Arsenal’s radar for a long time, with the North London club submitting an offer to sign him. Kadioglu can be a top-class left-back reinforcement for Arsenal, although he can also be an option for the right-back berth and in the midfield unit.
Meanwhile, Fulham’s interest in Ferdi Kadioglu is understandable. The Cottagers have not had a reliable right-back since returning to the Premier League. In addition, the Dutch-born Turkish international can be a solution for the left-back spot if Antonee Robinson leaves Fulham in the summer transfer window.
As for West Ham, they have been scouring the market for a left-back heading into the summer transfer window, even though Aaron Cresswell has signed a contract extension. Kadioglu can be an upgrade in the position and has the quality to become the first-choice left-back. Meanwhile, Fenerbahce will demand around €35 million to sell the 24-year-old utility man.
Other high-profile clubs like Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund have also scouted Kadioglu at the Euros. So, it will be interesting to see where the Dutch-born Turkish international plies his trade in the 2024/25 season.
