Sevilla reach full agreement to sign Albert Sambi Lokonga

Arsenal midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga has been linked with a move away from the North London club this summer.

A report from TEAMtalk has claimed La Liga outfit Sevilla have now reached a full agreement with Premier League club Arsenal to sign Albert Sambi Lokonga. The Gunners will send the Belgian midfielder to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium on loan for the 2024/25 season.

The Belgian midfielder needs to play regularly at this stage of his career and the loan move to La Liga would be ideal for him. The talented midfielder was on loan at Luton Town last season, and he was quite impressive for them.

Sevilla, who have been in talks to sign Lokonga for a while now, are one of the biggest clubs in La Liga, and the opportunity to join them will be quite attractive for him. The Belgian midfielder, who is on £50,000-a-week wages will gain valuable experience from playing regularly in La Liga, and he could return as a better player next summer.

Arsenal will not be able to offer him regular game time next season, and it makes sense for them to allow the player to leave on loan. If Lokonga manages to impress in La Liga, he could force his way into the Arsenal first team squad in the 2025/26.

Alternatively, there will be clubs queuing up for his signature if he does well in next season, and Arsenal will be able to sell him for a reasonable amount of money. It remains to be seen how the situation develops.

Albert Sambi Lokonga needs ample game time

Either way, sitting on the bench at Arsenal is not the ideal solution for him, and he needs to play regularly. The opportunity to play for Sevilla is an exciting one, and the 24-year-old will certainly relish the chance to showcase his qualities in Spain next season.

Arsenal are already well stocked in the midfield, and it makes perfect sense for them to get rid of players who are surplus to requirements. it will be interesting to see if they can offload their fringe players before the transfer window closes.

They must look to bring in quality additions as well to challenge for the league title once again. Arsenal have missed out on the title narrowly to Manchester City in the last two seasons, and they will be desperate to go all the way this time around.
