Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven are keen on signing the Liverpool defensive sensation Sepp van den Berg this summer.

According to a report from Voetbal International, PSV Eindhoven are looking to reinforce their defence ahead of next season on a priority basis. With André Ramalho no longer at the club, they are looking to bring in an ideal replacement and are interested in the services of Liverpool defender Sepp van den Berg.

Van den Berg joined the Merseyside club back in the summer of 2019 on the back of an impressive rise at PEC Zwolle. While he has been a part of the English club for five years, the Dutch youth international has only featured in four matches for the first team. He has often been out on loan elsewhere in search of regular first-team action.

The 22-year-old was on loan at FSV Mainz last season. He was involved in 35 matches and even bagged three goals. Despite his impressive performances during his recent loan spells, Van den Berg is unlikely to get much game time at Liverpool next season.

While he still has two years left on his deal, a permanent move away from the club could be on the cards this summer. There is significant interest from PSV Eindhoven who are looking to reinforce their defence. André Ramalho has parted ways with the club after his contract ran out and they are now looking for someone who can help fill his void.

They consider Van den Berg to be an ideal fit for their system. He has got the pace, has a strong physical presence and is comfortable on the ball. The Dutch club have a long-standing interest in the 22-year-old. But, they haven’t been able to sign him so far, because the player has preferred other moves and he has been financially unaffordable at times.

However, this time around PSV are looking to sign him on a long-term deal as they look to reshape their backline. While it still seems financially difficult for the Dutch outfit to strike a deal with Liverpool who reportedly want €20 million, the 2023/24 are looking for a way to try and bring him to the club ahead of next season.
