Newcastle United considering Gavin Beavers move

Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing 19-year-old American goalkeeping sensation Gavin Beavers from Real Salt Lake.

According to a report by The Sun, Gavin Beavers is the subject of interest from Newcastle United. The Magpies are scouring the market for a goalkeeper heading into the summer transfer window. And they have set their sights on the 19-year-old Real Salt Lake goalkeeping sensation, who stands at an imposing 6 feet 6 inches.

Who is Gavin Beavers?

Gavin Beavers has established himself as one of the best young prospects in his homeland in the last 12 months. A native of Henderson, Nevada, the American goalkeeping sensation has spent his formative years in his homeland, spending the last few years with Real Salt Lake.

The 19-year-old spent some time at Real Monarchs, Real Salt Lake’s USL Championship affiliate. Meanwhile, the youngster made his first-team debut for Real Salt Lake in the 2023 season and has grown in stature in the 2024 campaign thus far. Beavers has made five Major League Soccer appearances, conceding six goals while keeping two clean sheets.

Meanwhile, Beavers’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of a few well-known clubs across Europe. A move to the Premier League might be on the cards, with Newcastle United among his prospective suitors heading into the summer transfer window.

Premier League move on the horizon?

Newcastle United’s interest in Gavin Beavers is understandable. The Magpies are scouring the market for a goalkeeper heading into the summer transfer window, with Nick Pope not inspiring confidence as the long-term undisputed first-choice goalkeeper. So, several candidates, including James Trafford, have emerged on Newcastle United’s radar.

The Tyneside outfit seemed to get closer to securing James Trafford’s services after personal terms became a formality. However, that move has gone cold for Newcastle United, with Beavers emerging as a viable target for them heading into the summer transfer window. The youngest goalkeeper in MLS history has an imposing 6ft 6in frame.

Beavers is eager to move to England in the summer transfer window if he receives an offer from Newcastle United. It will be interesting to see if the Magpies bring the 19-year-old American goalkeeping sensation to St. James’ Park in the coming weeks.
