Manchester United are holding internal discussions to decide whether to proceed with their pursuit of Joshua Zirkzee.
According to Fabrizio Romano via GIVEMESPORT, Manchester United are interested in acquiring the services of Joshua Zirkzee as they look to reinforce their attack ahead of next season. They are currently holding internal discussions about a potential move after being informed that the Dutch forward’s transfer to AC Milan has stalled.
Things might not have worked out for Zirkzee at Bayern Munich but he has managed to get things back on track since joining Bologna in the summer of 2022. The 23-year-old had an impressive 2023/24 season where he scored 12 goals and also bagged seven assists.
His consistent performances played a big part in Bologna’s impressive run last time out. On the back of it, multiple top clubs are keen on signing him. Manchester United are one of the clubs who are interested in the Dutch striker.
United consider making a move for Zirkzee
The Red Devils want to bolster their attack on a priority basis ahead of next season. They want to bring in a forward who can support Rasmus Hojlund up top. With Anthony Martial leaving the club, they are looking for an ideal replacement and Zirkzee is a part of their wishlist.
United have been informed about his move to AC Milan stalling and they are internally discussing whether to make a move for the Dutch striker with other targets also in mind.
While talking about Zirkzee’s futue, Romano said: “We know that AC Milan were in very advanced talks, and remain in very advanced talks on the player side, but still no agreement between Milan and the agents of the player on the commission.
“So the deal is still on standby between Milan and Joshua Zirkzee. Man United are informed. United are deciding internally, what do they want to do for the striker.”
Milan deal stalls, United have an opportunity
Milan were in advanced talks with the player about the move. But, they haven’t been able to reach an agreement over the commission fee to his agent, Kia Joorabchian. As a result, the transfer is now on hold and United have the perfect opportunity to sign one of their targets.
The Bologna ace has a release clause worth £34 million, which won’t be much of a problem for the Red Devils. But, with his agent Joorabchian looking for £12 million as a part of his commission for a deal, things might not be that straightforward for United as well.
